A couple of years ago someone asked me, Do you enjoy camping? This question gave my husband and I a bit of a chuckle inside because I think that I am quite transparent on this subject of The Outdoors. Of course I answered, No, and said that The Outdoors was just not for me. In response to my answer the person I was speaking to answered, Oh, yeah, I forgot. You like those rich girl vacations.
No, I did not make that story up. Nor, I am quite sure what a rich girl vacation is, but if it includes a pool, sunscreen or perhaps cabanas on a beach somewhere near the equator... count me in!
Case in point why I don't camp...
1. I am black. I am not sure we camp.
2. It is only April and I have had 3 mosquito bites already. Seriously people? Only in the Midwest!
3. And the only thing that sounds remotely fun about camping from the stories I have heard from, "Mr. Eagle Scout", David is not peeing in the woods or sleeping on a cot, but it is the home cooked food. Insert Peach Cobbler here.
Now, I am sure that you all know that I did not get this voluptuous figure by accident. I got it by eating things like fried chicken and collared greens. The black people I know don't camp, but we do eat. One of the things that we have in common with campers is Peach Cobbler. Mmmmmm mmmmmm good.
So, this weekend I had an idea. Lets pretend to camp. By pretend to camp I mean, lets eat. That is just what we did. After David and I took Daisy to the vet on Saturday we headed over to Mom and Dad's house to grill out. There we had the usually grilling foods: Omaha Steaks (delish'), hot dogs and cheeseburgers with the Fam. Mr. Eagle Scout and my contribution was Peach Cobbler.
I received this easy recipe from my friend Gina and everyone loved it!
Preheat oven to 400.
9 x 13 pan
3 large cans of sliced peaches
1 yellow cake mix box
Sugar
Cinnamon
Drain all the cans of peaches. Spread evenly into the 9 x 13 pan and sprinkle with sugar, to taste. Take the powdered Yellow Cake Mix (THE POWDER ONLY PEOPLE) and sprinkle the whole thing evenly over the peaches. Sprinkle with Cinnamon. Bake for about 20-30 minutes depending on how brown you would like the top. Serve with vanilla ice cream.
This stuff was so (expletive) good!
Since every post is better with a picture. Here is Mr. B with this Grammy:
To think that my sister's little man, Mr. B, turns one year old next month! My how time flies!

You crack me up!! :)
And I'm with you on the best part of camping being the food.
Thanks for the email about my dog. You are so sweet!
I am so glad that you had a good camping trip. LOL!
Take it from someone who is an Eagle Scout professionally and gets paid to camp for 10 weeks every year, there is alot more to camping than just the food. I do love me some cobbler though.
Even though I have been vegetarian for the past 4 months, the description of your cook out made me drool all over the keyboard. "Table for Pavlov, party of two!"
