Back Among the Living.

First of all I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has called to check up on me.  I am sorry that I have not been able to return everyone's calls just yet.  I will though.  For those of you who have not called... shame on you! hahaha Friday was really the first day that I have was able to move my right arm without a ton of pain and discomfort.

I do have to say that besides the pain factor this past week has been pretty good.  I was slow moving and did leave work early for doctors appointments (thanks Boss :P), but the patients were pretty mellow for the most part.  Friday I did skip out from going to the office in the morning.  I checked messages from home late morning, but the week had sure caught up with me.  It was nice to be able to know that I was able to get the much needed sleep my body was craving.

Friday afternoon was just a blast though.  Mom, Kyle and I went our running errands. (This week has been very much about Kyle.  Her shower was this weekend... I will get to that later... and we have been getting ready for that.)  We had brunch together at Mimi's Cafe, (not really a place that I like at all) but my Mom and Kyle just die for their quiche.  On the way to our weekly stop at the bakery (insert button popping off pants here) Mom surprised Kyle and I.  She told us that she was going to take us shopping for outfits to wear the the shower... her treat!

This was great!  I mean Kyle is growing by the second and looks like she could pop at any minute and well... I have just been hitting the bakery just a bit hard. The two of us were SO excited.  I cannot tell you the last time that the three of us went shopping together... peacefully (for those of you who know us know what I mean and you can close your mouths now).  We just had a blast trying things on.  I really did feel kinda bad for the other ladies in there with us.  I am sure that they either had a good laugh about our reviews of dresses and skirts or they were offended.  Either way we had a great time.  Kyle ended up getting two really cute dresses and I picked up two skirts and a top!  Mom also choose some great items too!  With our stylish finds in hand we heading to the bakery, Hobby Lobby, Hy-Vee and Costco.  Busy were we, but we were ready to party down... has much as you could "party down" at a baby shower.  I do have to say that I am sure that it was a funny/scary sight for the shoppers in the store to watch the three of us (remember Kyle is preggo) trying to pick out what strawberry daiquiri and margarita mix (minus alcohol of course)  to get for the fiesta.

Saturday was just a whirlwind.  I told David before we went to bed on Friday to get me up by 10 a.m (10 a.m. that is a scary thought for me... I am a sleeper).   Amazingly I was up and we were out the door by 10:05 a.m. or so!  We went to Payless Shoes, Target and The Children's Place,
and Old Navy.  We were really in a rush and when we arrived home we forgot to get the one thing that we really needed.  As I jumped in the shower David ran to the shop to get me one.  We I was ready and had the car loaded with all the stuff that I needed to take to Kyle's shower David was just pulling up.  Quick exchange of the lens and a smooch and I was off.

The shower started at 3 p.m. and it was really a great time!  There were a lot of people there.  Kyle's friends, my friends, Mom's friends and church friends and family from out of town.  It was a great reminder of how blessed that we are to have so many people who care so much for our family.  It was fun to see our old friends from the Riverview Ward and catch up.  (For those of you worrying about David... he is fine... he is safely stationed with Nenee in front of the HD plasma watching the NFL draft eating dirty rice and chocolate chip cookies and holding down the fort from invasion)  We played a few games at the shower and then presents... not to mention some good eats.  All the things that Kyle received were things that were greatly needed and she was so grateful to have such generous and thoughtful friends/family.  Here are a few of the AWESOME (a working on being more modest about my work) pictures that I took at the shower.

The first is the diaper cake that I made for Kyle.  It really turned out really nice.  It is what everyone who has a baby will be getting from me from now on.  The cake is cute, 100% useable since you just unroll the diapers and use them and well... cute.  The middle picture is Kyle with the gift that David picked out for her.  David picked out the baby some pool gear: trunks, hat and sunglasses (something she was looking for, but couldn't find in the 0-3 mo. size).  The third were the cute party favors that Kyle put together for all of the guests.  Oh, yes the little one is a BOY (hints the blue) and his name is going to be Braxton Lee Gardner.

Now, it is Sunday night and I am determined to get in bed before midnight.  I don't know what it is, but David and I just stay up to late.  Today I cannot say that I did much at all by other people's standards, but I did scrap 5 pages today.  I didn't get up until... well, really late lets just say.  I was just to pooped from the weekend to get up early for church.  David went though and I am sure he prayed for me...hahaha.

Tomorrow is Monday.  Another week is beginning.  This week is also the start of National Scrapbooking Week (I know...I am a DORK!), but I am excited for all the new goodies that will be out starting tomorrow.  Also, tomorrow we are having a family dinner for FHE (family home evening) at Han Shin.  One of our favorite restaurants here.  I have had my birthday dinner there every year from about 6 years.  Liz, Whitney, Julia and Elias can all vouch for the fact that it has the BEST ginger sauce in the world!

Have a great start to your week everyone!  I will check back in soon!
