by some people's ignorance. I was listening to my favorite afternoon radio show, The Church of Laslo, on 96.5 The Buzz on my drive home from work. They do a segment call "I have issues" and they bring up current events and talk about them. The main one that they brought up today, of course, the case in Texas where the children were taken for their polygamist compound and put in to state custody. As most people do they, being uneducated, assumed that they were members of the "Mormon" Church. Most of the time this show brings up and events like this they have researched the story and background. Not today! The three hosts of the show were sure that all of us were the same. They said that since both of the "Churches" have "Church of Jesus Christ" we were all the same Church. They also said that what that community was doing to those underage girls being married to, for lack of a better word, old men was not against the law. I don't know what they were thinking today. I mean come on. In the eyes of the law that "man" is only married to his first wife. If the state of Texas as well as in the United States it is against the law to be married to more than one person. Therefore, they are not legally married! David and I tried for over and hour to get through the phone lines to the radio show, but to no avail. However, the only person who they did put on the radio claimed to be a member of the church. Too bad for all of us members he as well did not know what he was talking about when it came to church history or his own Church's stance on this subject.
Everyday this subject is brought up I am humbled. I am a person quick to react and for me today I had to remember that not everyone was blessed with the knowledge that I have. I have written and email to the show, along with many others I am sure. I hope that if nothing else happens they can for themselves do some more research before offending a whole group of people. (I am stepping of my soap box now...)
Yea, it is Thursday! I love Thursdays. Especially busy Thursdays like today! My day was started off with the Fed-Ex man coming to work with my package! MY CAMERA IS HERE!!! I am really excited, but I can't use it yet. The
first lens that I ordered does not deliver until tomorrow. Bummer. Oh, well. It is fun to look at all the fun features it offers. I am going to order one of
these this weekend. I also need to go to the camera shop and see if they have some of the other lenses that I am interested in. I am so excited!
The weekend is upon us. Tomorrow I am going to sleep in. Did I mention that I fell asleep on the couch tonight while David was in class. I remember looking at the clock during the ABC evening news at 5:38 p.m. Before I knew it it was 9:30 p.m. Now, I will be up all night. Tomorrow I have to work on baby shower stuff with my Mom and go to the camera shop too. I hope. Oh yeah, and of course the bakery! I am going to pick up a mini cake for my Grandma while I am there. We are going to go and see her on Saturday.
