*** This the the post from last week since I changed URLs. ***
Well, here it finally is. After much hard work, hopefully you can tell, we are up and running. I have wanted to get a blog together for awhile, but just didn't have the time to sit down and do it. Since I had sometime this week, really I just couldn't sleep, it is done. I thought that it might be a good idea to do something like this. David and I have tons of friends and family that do not live near us and we thought that this would be a great way for everyone to keep tabs on our great exciting lives here is Kansas. No, we don't have cows.
This blog is also part of a challenge. Anna, who also has a blog, and I have decided that if we are going to have these things we have to keep them updated. The challenge: that we both have to post to our blog a minimum of once a week and have to include at least one photo or digiscrap (digital scrapbooking) layout, no exceptions. The first one to miss a week has to buy the other a $10.00 gift certificate to our favorite digiscrap site, Sweet Shoppe Designs.
This last week has been pretty busy. Last Saturday David and I had one of our most productive weekends in a long time. We were up and ready for the day by 10 a.m. For anyone who knows me knows that since I graduated from college mornings are not my strong suit and this was a victory in itself. We had invited my Mom and sister, Kyle, over for breakfast. In reality it was just a great way for us to get them to come over and help us on the house. They knew that and came anyway thankfully. David being the sweetie that he is made us all breakfast. He made us hash browns, sausage and eggs made to order. Even better than the breakfast was the fact that I didn't have to clean it up. David took pity on me. Even though the person who cooked it usually does not do clean up at our house.
After that we were all off... to the front yard that is. The dogs watched while all of us worked. Mom and I had the job of raking ALL of the mulch that they old owners felt necessary to pile on inch by inch. In total we raked and bagged 7 bags of just mulch. It was no wonder to us why everything the old owners planted died... it was all being sufficated by it lack of everything! By the end of the day between us all we planted 7 flowering bushes, 7 green shrubs, attached two window boxes to the house, scattered new grass seed, changed out the front porch light fixture, changed the address numbers, potted two cedar trees for either side of our front porch, planted pansies in the two window boxes, scattered fresh grass seed, had eaten about 20 Fla-vor-Ice popsicles and filled 15 lawn bags. Now, the yard looks great. Here are some of the things that we planted: pink phlox, japanese silver grass, and pansies. Already in the yard were some peonies and daffodils. It has been week and we can already see them growing. Here are some pictures after our work day was over:
