When I was a child (who and I kidding... even now) my Mom would not let me out of her sight. We could only play outside unless she or my Dad was watching us. We could not ride our bikes past the "man hole" (about 15 yards from our pervious house)... ever. My siblings and I were rarely allowed to sleep over at friends homes for this reason...

I went to this site, keyed in my address and zip code and that is what came up. 155 offenders and 11 that would not be mapped. So, total 166 sexual offenders within a stones throw from our home. If you click on the different colored boxes it will inform you of the persons age, exact address, conviction date, victim's age at time of crime and the convicted sex offenders picture.
I was always so annoyed with my parents when I could not go to the movies or the mall without them, but really how could I blame them?

Did you know you could click on the little colored boxes on the map and it shows you all their info, including a picture. Seriously.

Out here in CA it's called the Megan's Law database. What's really scary is that if you look at the neighborhoods around schools the density of these freaks is much higher.

yep, i keep up with all the crazies and pervs...it definitely is an eye opener. very, very scary. makes my skin crawl.
