Sunday, April 13

No, the green on that spoon was not altered in photoshop in any way.  This picture is from April 2007.  David was eating part of his brother, Dane's sour apple slush in Arizona last Easter weekend.

Thank goodness this week is over!

Sunday, we watched General Conference on BYU TV. For those of you who do not know what General Conference is here is a quick run down.  It a  semiannual meeting where our church's general authorities where church leaders give guidance and insightful messages to the members of our church.  It is held in April and October of each year.   The transcripts and audio of this year's 178th broadcast are avaliable in over 80 languages at the church's website.

This conference sat differently with me then ones in years past.  It was the first Conference without our dear President Hinckley.  President Hinckley just passed away this past January and was the only President of the church that I have known.   He was the Prophet of the church when I was baptized and I always found his words to be uplifting and relevant to my life.  This was President Monson's first conference as the church's new leader. His closing words from the Sunday afternoon session, "Let us be kind to one another, be aware of each other's needs, and try to help in that regard.  My dear brothers and sisters, I love you, and I pray for you.  Please pray for me.  And together we will reap the blessings our Heavenly Father has in store for each of us.  This is my prayer, my plea...", were amazing.  I know he will be as inspiring as President Hinckley.

My Mom came over to watch the morning session and David once again made a yummy to the tummy breakfast.  Homemade biscuits.  Be jealous, very jealous.

Monday and Tuesday were quite normal... minus the frigid weather here.  Although, Wednesday was crazy.  When I arrived at work on Wednesday morning my Mom told me that the evening before my Mema (my Mom's Mom) fell while washing her hands in the bathroom.

For those of you who know my Mema know that when she does something she goes all out and this occasion is no different.  It turns our that when she fell she hit her head and had to have staples there.  Along with the head injury she has broken her femur  just about the knee. I rescheduled the patients from the afternoon so that we could go to the hospital for her surgery.  David also took off the afternoon.  She is doing quite well now and just wants to go home.  She will be in the hospital until Monday and then she will be transfered to a rehabilitation center.  She will be there for a minimum of 8 weeks until she can hopefully walk on it again.

The rest of this week was just spent going back and forth from the hospital.  I did take my Mema a yummy mini cake from our family's favorite bakery, McLain's.  She loves sweets and she was delighted.  This bakery is also where I get David and I danishes every Friday afternoon.

As for this week I am hoping to get our "new" guest room finished (if the furniture delivery will cooperate) and grout the newly tiled kitchen floor.  We will see how it goes.

Here is what my sister's baby shower invitations looked like.  I made them for her and they turned our really great.  She was really happy with them and her friends and our family seemed to love them as much as we did.  Maybe I will get some business out of the deal!

Have a happy Sunday evening!  I will keep up better with the blogging so that they will not be so long this week.

Did I mention that it snowed this weekend?  They do say that if you don't like the weather in Kansas just wait a day and it will change.
